Thanks to our hosts at the DNC and all of our sponsors, speakers, staff, volunteers, and attendees, the 2008 AAA-Fund Annual Celebration was a major success. Thirteen Members of Congress joined over 200 guests for food, silent and live auctions, and some stirring speeches.

Segment 1 Summary: Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen, Chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, is the fifth-ranking House Democrat and a strong supporter of the AAA-Fund's efforts to elect more Asian Pacific Americans to Congress and other offices. As DCCC Chairman, Rep. Van Hollen is responsible for leading efforts to get more Democrats elected to Congress.see more videos
Segment 2 Summary: Mistress of Ceremonies Kelly Hu, a Hawaii native and Democratic activist who has starred in Scorpion King, X-Men 2, and other hits, did a wonderful job of introducing the speakers and making the live auction more exciting. Her opening remarks focused on key issues and the need for unity to elect Democrats in 2008.see more videos
Segment 3 Summary: Ruchi Bhowmik, Barack Obama's legislative counsel, celebrated the AAA-Fund and all Democrats for a spirited primary campaign and thanked Sen. Clinton for her efforts. Ruchi noted that Sen. Obama grew up in Hawaii and has Asian Pacific Americans in key positions, including Chief of Staff and Legislative Director. She also noted how Sen. Obama also has been supportive of electing more women and Asian Pacific Americans to office.see more videos
Segment 4 Summary: California Congressman Mike Honda, Chairman of the AAA-Fund Honorary Board of Directors, also serves as Chair of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus, Vice Chair of the Democratic National Committee, and House Democratic Senior Whip. He reviewed some of the accomplishments of the AAA-Fund, including the monies raised, votes generated, and visibility raised for Asian Pacific American candidates all across the country.see more videos
Segment 5 Summary: Hawaii Representative Mazie Hirono, a longtime supporter of the AAA-Fund who also has served as Lt. Governor of Hawaii, celebrated Hillary Clinton for breaking the glass ceiling for women. She then mentioned the positive effect that an Obama presidency will have to Asian Pacific Americans, and thanked the audience for their efforts.see more videos
